We worked with Salts to design and develop a Stoma Training App that gives you all the information you need whether you’ve just found out you will need to have a stoma, recently had your operation, or are living with a stoma. It is also a useful tool for those caring for and supporting a relative or friend.
Having worked for Salts for a number of years, we were asked to develop the app to enable Salts to utilise the opportunity to communicate to patients remotely and provide a useful information tool that helps educate patients and families in terms of what having a stoma means and involves.
The challenge with the design of the app was finding the right balance between the written word, video and imagery, to ensure we delivered a user-friendly tool that communicated the key messaging efficiently and in a manner that is informative and easy to digest.
We produced and delivered a mobile IOS and Android app solution, featuring useful videos, step-by-step instructions and loads of information and advice. The Stoma Training App guides you through life with a stoma.
The app also contains details of support services, a list of FAQs to help with any questions you may have, and a glossary of terms.
The app has been positively received with a 4.6 out of 5-star rating on the iTunes App Store and great user comments including ‘Not seen an app like this before for ostomates, really useful. Good videos and links’ and ‘My mum is about to go through this operation, and I found this app really useful’.
