Norge Mining are a global leader in sourcing and developing valuable minerals using modern and sensitive mining methods. They needed support from Outlook and Buchanan to re-design and re-develop their current website to improve the user experience and apply a fresh look and feel.
Our brief was to re-develop the Norge Mining corporate website so that it is responsive and available across all industry-standard web browsers in x5 languages. We worked with Buchanan, who created the design concepts and site map. The brief included the 5 languages English, Norwegian, German, Russian and Simplified Chinese.
Starting with the concepts, the Outlook development team looked at new ways they could bring Buchanan’s concepts to life to create a visually engaging website.
After collaborating with the design team at Buchanan and the stakeholders from Norge Mining, we created a new website using HTML, JavaScript, AJAX, PHP and MySQL.
To create a visually engaging website, we used a number of different techniques to encourage the user’s journey through the site.
The site included 14 pages; built into all pages was the ability to select different content tabs which animate and load onto the same page and URL. This resulted in each page has their own specific content area and the user doesn’t need to visit multiple pages on the site as they can find all they need to on the one page.
Since the new Norge Mining website has gone live, it has a low bounce rate average of 40%. The site is performing well consistently across all languages. Using SEO hreflang tags, we have been able streamline the user experience, making sure the user is taken to the correct language site and the content is most relevant to themselves rather than having to go to the English site and select their language.
The website and all 5 languages went live on time and on budget, with great client feedback.
